It is difficult to see ourselves in a valley of blessing during times of calamity and war. Yes I said war! I truly feel we are in battle right now. But I feel like this place we are in will be called a valley of blessing. But it will be what we do in the battle that determines the name of this valley when we reach the victory! And we will reach that victory!
I was reading in 2 Chronicles chapter 20. In this passage King Jehoshaphat and his people are facing war against, not one, but multiple armies! The threat was they would lose the land God gave to them as their inheritance. The question became why would God potentially allow for them to be thrown out of the land God gave to them? The King looked to God for the answer to this question.
God answered this question by ministering to Jahaziel. The word God spoke to him was essentially telling him the battle was not theirs but Gods. God told him that they were to march out against the armies that very next day, take their positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He said to not be afraid for He was with them. This message was conveyed to the King and that very next day the King sent singers ahead of their army to sing to the Lord and praise Him. It was at the very moment that the praises were going up that the armies were being taken down without even a sword from King Jehoshaphat’s army being raised.
The moment the praises of His people were being raised God caused the armies to fight among themselves. It says when the Kings armies reached their lookout point all they saw was dead bodies as far as their eyes could see. Not a single enemy survived. This very valley was named the Valley of Blessings. This name came to be as the people praised and thanked the Lord there.
Whether you want to believe it or not, we are at war! It maybe an invisible enemy due to its’ viral nature. Our reaction and actions will determine the name of this valley after the victory is gained. He WILL have the victory! We WILL be victorious! And I am determined to react and act in a way that praises Him because I want my valley and your valley to be named a valley of blessing on the other side of COVID19.
I would love to hear your thoughts and even what you are doing daily to praise Him in this storm so please feel free to share in the comments below.
I will leave you with this verse, 2 Chronicles 20: 9 NLT Whenever we are faced with any calamity such as war, plague, or famine, we can come stand in your presence before this Temple where your name is honored. We can cry out to you to save us, and you will hear us and rescue us.
